La SOO (Solution Oriented Organization) dans les PME?

Posted by barthox on 20 June, 2008

(This post is in French because I’m reacting to a French written post. The ideas therefore came naturally in this native language of mine!)

J’ai donc un peu de mal a l’intégrer dans l’optique d’une organisation industrielle de niveau PME, qui est généralement constituée (en caricaturant un peu bien sûr!);

Diigo - The underestimated Social Bookmarking Solution

Posted by barthox on 18 June, 2008

The social bookmarking scene is nowadays quite crowded. Behind the grandfather site of them all, del.icio.us, many other solutions such as Digg, Ma.gnolia, Reddit, Mister Wong, … have appeared bringing here a richer interface and there some richer features.

Another of these contender is Diigo.

I have selected to use Diigo after trying out, sometimes in parallel, several of the other solutions. Why did I choose Diigo? Because it has all the features I was looking for;

  • a nice, fast and ergonomic bookmarking interface
  • a pretty neat website
  • solid but unobtrusive social networking features
  • a one click ’send web page per email’ feature that is using my GMail account flawlessly without any configuration on my part

As with most other social bookmarking sites, you have the possibility to keep your bookmarks private or public.

You can also point directly to a particular tag or set of tags.

Then you can add Friends, create Lists, Groups, join Communities, meet People, ….

Really powerful!

So if you’re interested in sharing bookmarks, it’s right HERE.

Oh, and something I discovered today, when bookmarking a site, you can Tweet about it automatically!

Blown away!

Posted by barthox on 17 June, 2008

I have just downloaded and installed Firefox 3.

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a software moving so fast!

Indeed, from a design point of view, the new version doesn’t look much different from the previous one. It does look somewhat wmoother, but not more.

But, it’s when you start surfing that you see the difference, page load in a snap, even pages that usually require heavy ressources like Gmail or Zoho CRM.

There are other new features of course (see the Top 10 ones on Lifehacker), but speed of surf is for me the one that justified trying to download!

Can’t wait to install it at the office tomorrow morning!

The other cool thing to watch is the buzz around this.

Everyone and his neighbor is trying to get the file to install it, and they relate it all on their blog …

Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2008 offert aux Bloggeurs francophones!

Posted by barthox on 21 April, 2008

Can Evernote compete with Google Notebook or Zoho Notebook?

Posted by barthox on 15 April, 2008

I discovered Evernote, the client version, back in 2006, and have been using it for about a year or so until it kept asking me at every start if I wanted to buy the full version. I then switched to Google Notebook, together with its Firefox addon.

Now a few weeks ago, I learned through Benoit Descary, that Evernote was launching its version 3.0. And not only was it a new version, but the whole concept had been revamped.

Evernote was now both a client software, but also, and more importantly, a web based one as well.

Benoit could provide me with an invite code, so I decided to have a look. But not only to Evernote, indeed a few people on Benoit’s blog had hinted that Zoho Notebook was a pretty good tool as well.

So I registered to both Evernote and Zoho.

I meant to make a full comparison between the three solutions, but quite frankly, with the baby plus two major projects going on at the office, I couldn’t make it.

Nevertheless, here are some thoughts out of the top of my head:

- Evernote, I have not been able to launch the client version, apparently due to a proxy issue eventhough I have no proxy problem at all. It is apparently a know issue and Evernote is working on it

- As far as I could tell, the Evernote web version does not support all the functionalities of the client one (but again, I could not really dwelve into it as I should have)

- Zoho looks really promising, but I encountered a few bug, principally while trying to save stuff, which is in my opinion a serious problem! ;o)

- Google Notebook lacks a sexy user interface, but other than that, I don’t hold much grieves against it …

Anyway, the race is on, and if you’d like to join me, I have 8 invitation codes to share … If you’re interested, leave me your email address (if I don’t have it already) in the comments.

Only, give me a few days to send you the invite as I will be on a business trip to Milano for the newt 2 days …
